Asymmetry: Exploring Imbalance
Project type
Photography
Date
April 21-26 2021
Location
Long Island, New York
I made these images in the days after I got the news that my friend had died. He had lost his lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis and had been able to prepare most of his friends and family about having reached the end of his battle. The day after I received the news, I woke up remembering his words about how it felt to have two lungs that barely worked at half capacity. He once told me that he always had one lung that struggled more than the other and was consistently in a state of imbalance. This must have had a stronger effect on me than I realize because the majority of these photos were created only 2 days after his death.
